Victims of Violence Canadian Centre for Missing Children was founded in March of 1984 by families of abducted and murdered children. Two of the founding members are Gary and Sharon Rosenfeldt. In April of 1981 their eldest son, sixteen year old Daryn, was brutally raped and murdered by Clifford Olson in British Columbia.

At the time, there were no places or organizations that were willing to help families dealing with such atrocities. Victims did not have a place within the justice system, nor did they have any information on what to expect throughout the court process.

Since its inception, Victims of Violence has grown to meet the needs of Canadians. With the help of many, victims now have a place within the criminal justice system. Victims of Violence is regularly asked to make recommendations before the Justice Committee on numerous issues ranging from crimes against children, parole reform and DNA legislation.

Out of tragedy comes the conviction that victims of crime would never be treated that way again...
